About the Author
Steve’s research interests are in practitioner research where he has worked with networks of teachers on the development of their classroom evaluations. He has also been involved with the development of Education Studies as a subject in HE. Steve has been chair of the British Education Studies Association and was more recently involved in the review of the Education Studies Subject Benchmarks for QAA.

Steve currently teaches research methods on the master’s in leadership and management and education studies on the combined awards program.

Diana Burton is Professor of Education and Director of the Centre for Developmental and Applied Research in Education at the University of Wolverhampton. She was formerly Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Education at Liverpool John Moores University, where she was previously Dean of Education. She worked for many years at Manchester Metropolitan University leading teacher education programmes and was a secondary school teacher before that.

Diana has a Masters and PhD in the field of Educational Psychology. She is the author of a number of books and articles on pupil learning, teacher development, educating children with behavioural, emotional and social disadvantage, citizenship and social justice. She is a fellow of the Royal Academy for the Society of the Arts, and the Higher Education Academy and an active member of the British Education Research Association.

William Scott-Elliot (sometimes incorrectly spelled Scott-Elliott) (1849-1919) was a theosophist who elaborated Helena Blavatsky's concept of root races in several publications, most notably The Story of Atlantis (1896) and The Lost Lemuria (1904), later combined in 1925 into a single volume called The Story of Atlantis and the Lost Lemuria.

Very Interesting

The author writes this book w/a lot of facts based on verifiable data. It really gives you an in depth look at the history of life on this planet. A history you won't find in any public schools! I am not sure how much is really true, but it sure makes you think about how everything has evolved. . . I am really disappointed that the map links don't work on the Kindle. They are referred to a lot in the book and I could not see them.

historical data from a lost era?

I'm not sure if this book is fiction or non-fiction, but it reads as if the author knew what he was talking about. I find the book very interesting and found myself reading most of it in one sitting. I give the book 4 stars because the MAP links on the Kindle edition don't work. They speak a lot about maps and have links in the book but I can't see them when clicked on! Hope this is fixed soon.

Great resource!

This book is invaluable to me. I am a novice restorer and found this to be extremely helpful as the author has already paved the path. There are several typos in the book, as I presume this book was "homegrown," as it is not a slick and glossy book. But, despite those minor flaws it is an excellent way to get started and VERY comprehensive. This book is available in digital and paper formats. If you choose paper you still have access to full color images and resources online. The pictures in the book are black and white but sufficient for most purposes. It was surely a labor of love that this author complied his years of experience into this volume. I thank you T.E. Temple!

Shipping was fast and excellent. As for the book itself,it is an absolute must for anyone getting into clock repair. It is extensive and excellently written. Even the amatuer can get a grasp on the explanations. It is through and has extensive photos to help with the explanations. I would recommend this book highly, especially after reading a vast number of other works on the subject. Stop wasting money on other books and purchase this one first. Diane

Defining A Classic

After reading the screenplay of Waiting for Godot I did many things. I laughed, I scratched my head, I wondered who this Godot was and I tried to find the elusive plot and meaning of it all. In all, maybe it was Mr. Beckett's primary intention to have all the theater goers go mad!

The essence of this two act play revolves around two longtime friends by the names of Vladimir and Estragon who are in search of a character called Godot. The reader or theater goer never really knows who Godot is. Is it the search for God? Could be but who knows. Godot could represent anyone or anything.

Beckett gives the impression that Vladimir and Estragon are hobo-like characters who wear bowler's hats and carry on a most nonsensical and repetitious continuing conversation. In fact most of their dialogue is very much like Abbot and Costello's Who's On First. The dialogue goes in circles much like Abbot and Costello.
Also another comedy team comes to mind as I read on in what can only be called a farce of a play dominated by absurd allusions. As Vladimir and Estragon continue with their absurd conversations along comes two other characters which add more speculation into what seems to be like the rabbit in Alice In Wonderland added confusion and wonderment in that rather absurd tale. These characters named Pozzo and Lucky add their own comedic scheme to this rather confusing and jumbled tale. When the seemingly intellectually challenged Lucky, who has the IQ of Rocky Balboa, breaks into an outright intellectual diatribe it made me laugh so hard like I remember when I watched old Laurel and Hardy routines as a young boy.

The play's meaning and plot is an open book. It can mean anything to anybody. It is full of symbolism and begs for a solid debate. To me it represents life and that life in and of itself at times lacks meaning, shows comedy and can be disappointing and hard to really understand. After seeing this play on February 2, 2014 on Broadway I can compare the play to one TV Series that being "Seinfeld" and the classic movie titled "Groundhog's Day." These are the current comparisons but in the end this play represents a mystery for us to interpret. I'll stick with Groundhog's Day!!!

For some reason this play should probably be read and seen multiple times to gain what was in Beckett's mind. I can see why this play is considered a classic. It has all the elements of what the word classic is all about.

One of the Best Plays representing Theatre of the Absurd

Waiting for Godot, End Game, Krapps Last Tape, and Happy Days are some of Samuel Beckett's best works. These plays are existential and very bleak. The heros of these plays are 'everyman.' These characters live dark, seemingly meaningless existences; however, what makes them heroic is that despite their dark oppressive lives, they continue trying. Happy Days is probably the brightest of all of these plays because it ends on a relatively positive note, but I think Waiting for Godot and End Game are Beckett's finest.

Waiting for Godot is about two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, who are waiting in what seems like a post apocalyptic world, on a road, near a tree. What are they doing? They are waiting for Godot. We don't meet Godot. We don't really know who Godot is. He could be God. As they wait, they sort of discuss philosophical and biblical themes and ideas. These moments provide interesting insights on both. There is no plot. Nothing happens. And, we begin and end the play with these two characters on the road. However, the journey in Beckett's plays are not made by the characters. It is the viewers who are changed. We, along with these characters, are waiting. Ultimately, we need to decide who or what we are waiting for and if it is worth it.

I love Samuel Beckett. I love Theatre of the Absurd.

"Waiting for Godot" explores Existential philosophy in the form of an absurd, random play. Samuel Beckett uses the easy-to-understand format of two men waiting for their companion Godot to allude to the human condition through Existentialism. The play lacks any true plot (other than the waiting) and there isn't much character development (Vladimir and Estragon wait for Godot despite the fact that he stands them up every day). And while that would seem like a bad thing - all this waiting with zero outcome - isn't that exactly what we spend our whole lives doing? We wait in line, in traffic, for work to end, for a vacation, etc. Stunningly close to our everyday lives, "Waiting for Godot" is a maddening and confusing play that rings true for every reader

About the Author
Karma Yeshe Rabgye is a monk in the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Originally from England, he now lives in a monastery in northern India. He conducts English, basic Buddhism and meditation classes for monks of all ages. Yeshe has studied with HH the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, HH the Seventeenth Karmapa, and many other prominent Buddhist lamas. He also helped found the Sangye-Menla Patients Charitable Trust, a non-profit organisation and hostel in Chandigarh, in 2008.

The Best Way To Catch A Snake

Lama Karma Yeshe Rabgye presents the ancient teachings of Buddhist traditions and wisdom in a simple and straight forward way. He manages to convey to the reader the most fundamental teachings of Buddhism throughout the book and he shares very easy methods to help the reader learn the importance of being responsible for his/her own thoughts and actions and through such mindfulness training, the reader comes to discover the kindness, compassion and peace that is inherent in all of us.

One does not need to be a Buddhist to benefit from reading this book. It is a source of inspiration and is truly a handbook for living consciously in our modern world.

Clear and concise --- a contemporary introduction to the Buddha's teachings

As a student and practitioner of Buddhism, I welcome Venerable Karma Yeshe Rabgye's clear and concise introduction to the central teachings of the Buddha.

His text covers the Four Seals, the Four Noble Truths, and the Four Preliminary Thoughts and includes appendices on the various schools of Buddhism and a short biography of the life of the Buddha.

Overall,Ven. Karma Yeshe Rabgye presents the subject matter in a way that allows a contemporary reader to relate the teachings to his/her life. At various points, the text invites the reader to think about different aspects of the material by posing questions that are intended for further reflection. Furthermore, Ven. Karma Yeshe Rabgye draws on a broad variety of scriptures that belong to various traditions of Buddhism to illustrate and support the claims he makes. Though he clearly identifies his own perspective (the Karma Kagyu tradition), he embraces the wisdom that is found in the writings of other schools of Buddhism as well. Contemporary references and a sense of humor make "The Best Way to Catch a Snake" pleasant to read and easy to follow.

The only suggestion I have is that, in the next edition, the list of sources that appear in the bibliography section be expanded to include all of the texts that are mentioned in the book. Doing so will allow the reader to follow up on the various canonical writings much more easily.

In summary, "The Best Way to Catch a Snake" is a clear and concise introduction to the principles of Buddhism that is intended for a general reader. I would certainly consider including it in an introductory course on Buddhism that is taught at the college or university level.

Crystal Clear!

What I loved about The Best Way To Catch A Snake is that it stripped back the ritualistic layers of Buddhism and presented its essential insights, of which almost anybody can see the obvious merit. This is not just for the sake of clarity; it is also in response to the lama's accurate observation that many Westerners are confused about what it really means to be a Buddhist. This is something Karma Yeshe Rabgye has special insight into since he was originally from the U.K. before studying in Tibet and India, where he now practices.

Do you know who is the 35th America's President? How did he become the America's President? Why he is so popular?

All answers of these questions are in the book "John Fitzgerald Kennedy: America's 35th President" by Barry Denenberg.

Scholastic first plublished this book in 1988.It has one hundred and four pages including with thirty one black and white pictures of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his family.

This is a great biography book because it tells the whole life story of John Fitzgerald Kennedy in only one hundred and four pages ,and it has John F kennedy's pictures when he was young.

So,I would like to recomend this book for people who are interested in biography ,especially,the President of United states of American.
