Excellent introduction to Epidemiology

Having no previous experience or education in Epidemiology was not a problem with this wonderful resource. I was enrolled in Intro to Epidemiology via Distance Learning and was nervous about having limited access to tutors. The text breaks down complicated Epidemiology principles, terms and equations into a simple format understandable to anyone willing to take the time. Numerous real-life examples abound in the book and keep the reading interesting. I can't recommend it enough. Knowledgable and experienced authors make this a great introductory text.

Splendid! This book should be read by EVERY middle-school and high-school student in the country. Instead of the No Child Left Behind debacle and now the fluffy Common Core, why not not begin our students' education with truth instead of the romanticized, self-aggrandizing swiss cheese that passes for history in our schools. Perhaps a book like this one could lead to some very important connections to how we treat people globally as well as locally. Bring this into a Ward Churchill, David Stannard, Noam Comsky, and Howard Zinn mix and you will have a substantially different view of our history.

Helps Me

I'm buying a second copy to pass onto a friend because this book has helped me. I used to be so full of fear and was not a nice person. I've found that by reading the stories in this book, I identify and something good happens to my heart. I learn a lot about myself and somehow, that helps my life be better between my ears, where it all starts. Something poignant about this book - and the twelve steps - has helped me. If this book doesn't help you, feel free to try something else. We all deserve to recover in a way that works for us. But just maybe it will help you like it helped me. I recommend anyone interested in this book also attend a few meetings and get a daily reader to put these stories in context of the overall help from the program.

I love this book

This is one of AlAnon's best books!{AlAnon of course, is a 12 Step program, a spiritually based group, for the families and friends of alcoholics}

It discusses, as the title says, using the Al-Anon suggestions in some of the most painful and embarrassing situations in life.
This book came out a few years after the influx of many adult-aged offspring of alcoholics to Al-Anon.With these newer members,(generalization alert) :-) came more young people who wanted to express things in a somewhat more outspoken manner.

Prior to that time period, these painful experiences were shared one-on-one,of course, but this book was one of the first to be open about some private matters family/friends of alcoholics have coped with.

One of the most wonderful things is that a newer person to Al-Anon, or a scared lonely member who isn't opening up to anyone, can read this book, and learn that he or she is not alone with some of the very trying experiences and situations that seem to come with loving or being close to an alcoholic.The experiences are told by the members themselves, and are meaningful and useful for anyone dealing with the family version the disease of alcoholism.

I love it and I recommend it.

Far Superior Time Travel

Cynthia Luhrs is an author to watch. Her grasp of everyday life in medieval times is superior to most. I LOVE her whole
Meriweather series and have read them over and over. The violence is clearly due to the century (14th) ...a bit shocking
but we have our own brand today! Very interesting the way her characters are developed and how the girls adapt to
life 700 yrs ago. Her plots are all different and she develops them in such a superb way as to take the reader out of
the living room into the past.
I have started on the next series and am anxious to see how they develope. Will keep all on my Kindle and read them
over and over.

I'm waiting to start book 3. I didn't have sisters so it's fun to read this to enjoy the joy and frustration caused by each. The story in the14th century is a bonus and the time travel part is best I enjoyed the adventure so far now for the youngest sisters adventure

Chris Bailey, a graduate of Carleton University in Ottawa, wrote over 216,000 words on the subject of productivity on his blog, A Year of Productivity, during a yearlong productivity project where he conducted intensive research, as well as dozens of productivity experiments on himself to discover how to become as productive as possible. NEWSFLASH: Busyness and Productivity are not the same thing

Heard about this book on one of Tai Lopez's videos, and it is put together very well. You can read this book start to finish, or skim through (as I did) to find what is applicable to you. Even better, each section has a "Estimated Read Time" at the beginning so that you can gauge how long the chapter will take you, or if you only have a few minutes, you can skip to a chapter that matches your time.

For me, the biggest take aways were the Rule of 3 (in which you organize your life to have 3 things on your To-Do list), brain dumping (where you right down all the thoughts that you have at that moment and reference later), and the Collection Box (which is similar to the Brain Dump, except you jot thoughts as they come to you while you're working on a task). I use the "Collection Box" at work to focus more, and I find that it has helped bit by bit in exercising my attention muscle. I also made a note to turn off all notifications during work, so that I don't get distracted by the buzzing and pings on the lock screen.

I've only been practicing the techniques for a couple of weeks, so interested to see how this turns out over the year!

Full a great ideas and insight

This is the second book I've read about productivity since I started using Todoist, the tasks management program. Bailey's book gave me a few really useful strategies and goals for improving my task management strategy. As a result reading this book, I've moved about a dozen of my maintenance tasks over to Monday mornings, which is my least productive day of the week. I am also going to experiment with not drinking coffee for 30 days and see how it affects my daily energy level.

This book would be very useful as the a college course, because just reading it without following through on some of the suggestions will not make it very useful.

I definitely suggest highlighting the book and trying out many of the recommendations he suggests at the end of each chapter. I also recommend keeping a reflective journal about your productivity, and write about what's working and not working with your task management strategy. This book provides lots of different ways to think about your strategy, as well as experiments you could try to improve your productivity.

Easy read with good info

I wasn't really sure if I would like this book as I've read a lot of productivity books and he is 20 years younger than me. But I was curious to see what he learned during his year of productivity. I was surprised to find it to be an easy, informative and entertaining read. He provides easy exercises to incorporate what he learned into your life. I didn't expect to find any earth shattering new info (which I didn't) but I loved how he structured it around the ideas of utilizing time, energy, and attention, a concept I'm not sure I've seen before. I also appreciate how much research he did in his project. The book overall was a great review for me and I would definitely recommend it.
