More action, more humor, more pleasure!

My favorite of the Time Warp Trio's adventures so far. This time, the boys end up in the land of King Tut and hieroglyphics. Fear of having their hands chopped off and being mummified are just two of the threats the boys have hanging over their heads when they face the mysteries of ancient Egypt. A wonderful look into customs and beliefs mixed with great humor, terrific storytelling, and non-stop adventure. Another book of the Time Warp Trio series, Jon Scieszka is a master at storytelling. He combines adventure, history, fantasy and humor in a compelling format that even reluctant readers will find hard to put down.

Have you ever wanted to travel back in time? In this book three kids (Sam, Joe, Fred) can!!! They have this magical book and you can type in a number and that is year that you travel back to. I think that is soooooo cool!!! In this book the three boys travel back to the Ancient Egypt,but there is one problem. To get home they have to find the "Book" and they lost it!!! How will they get home?? To find out then you should buy the book!!

Have you ever wanted a book you can back in time with? Well here's a book that your gonna love! This time Joe, Fred, Sam, and Joe's Anna get stuck in Eygpt.There they meet a evil preaist named Hasnut. He tries to get there hands choped but he doesn't sucseed. They also meet a king named Thomse III. He is there age. They become really good friends. I'm not going to spoil the book for but think about these qustion. How will they get back? And, What will happen to hasnut? So get out there and buy it!!!

Better books and nothing new on the subject

I've read a lot of books on Warren Buffett, value investing, and financial statement analysis. In my opinion, their first book Warren Buffett's 3 Favorite Books was by far their best book and much better than this book. The first half of the WB Accounting book covers what value investing is and how to react to the market, etc. This is already covered in their first book WB's 3 Favorite Books as well as countless other value investing books on the market. The second half of the book discusses financial statement analysis. I think there are better books on the market discussing this topic. Below are a couple that are great for financial statement analysis. I think the two books mentioned below go much more in depth on the integration of how the statements are linked together.

Also, I think their discussion on Discounted Cash Flow was a little too academic. For one thing, I doubt Warren Buffett uses that calculation as he even says that he doesn't use a calculator or a computer in his office. Unless of course he does it in his head which I doubt as the algebra is fairly involved.

I debated to give the book 3 stars but I think there are better books on the market. There are TONS of value investing books and financial statement analysis books on the market that do I think a much better job. I highly recommend though Preston's first book called WB's 3 Favorite Books.

Excellent book if you want to understand how Warren Buffett and value investors analyze financial statements

After reading Warren Buffett's Three Favorite Books, I was excited to find installment two in the series. While the first book provides an outstanding foundation on the principles of value investing, this book takes the reader through Buffett’s methods for understanding key financial statements – balance sheets, cash flow statements and income statements. The book will appeal to the seasoned investor and neophyte alike because it is written in a clear, narrative format while also detailing which data and key ratios are important to the value investor.

The book balances the purely quantitative approach with the vitally important need for qualitative analysis. This book brings that elements of value investing together better than any other I’ve read.

Finally, the authors provide a straight forward discount cash flow calculation for approximating intrinsic value. Determining intrinsic value is essential for the value investor because a company can meet all the value investing criteria and still be a poor investment if it isn’t purchased at a good price. Certain key ratios can be used as indicators of a good bargain but approximating intrinsic value is the essential component in purchasing a good value that will provide the prudent investors with outstanding returns over the long run.

Great book!

Having read the book I personally loved it. The first book talks about a general overview of what value investing is. It delves into a basic overview of inflation, interest rates, and how it affects you as an investor. The second half has a simple explanation for the three financial statements. This book is great for the beginning investor who isn't familiar with financial statements. I'd recommend reading Stig's other book "Warren buffett's three books," both of the books really have good synergy - so having both of these books would be great for your investing arsenal.

I really don't have any criticisms for the book as it really reinforced many of the concepts that I have learned. The book is really great at simplifying the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement. I would have loved to have something on accounting fraud, but if you follow these steps the probability of you encountering fraud is low. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone seeking to learn value investing at a beginning level - which really requires understanding accounting. This book is the way to go.

High Adventure

Sky Pirates might have been inspired by Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter of Mars, but it's been seriously remixed: seasoned with portions of weird science, weirder sorcery and a healthy measure of madness. William King has created an anti-hero hauling a heavy burden through a strange and imaginative world full of implied spaces that hint at a wealth of characters just off stage and adventures yet to be explored.
Not only do I hope for sequels, this story cries out for a graphic novel adaptation. The rich imagery King provides could easily be worth a thousand pictures. It's top flight fantasy adventure.

Lovely one-chapter-a-day reads!

It serves perfectly well for my style of reading. Each day I come back for more and love it. Excellent for newbies through 'pretty good' players

Excellent for all but quite advanced players. Especially good for instruction due to not only the content, but the excellent orthographic (sort of 3D) chessboard illustrations now readily possible using computer software. Begins at the VERY beginning and works through openings, basic strategy & tactics, and the end game. Gives 'Mastery' challenges for each section, and introduces about some of the true masters of the past. Highly motivating for the newish player and/or young person. (Get the new 2nd edition to score the Mastery challenges.)

Good introduction!

Very introductory and basic, yet if that is what you want, this is the book to get. It folds open for study while playing, gives all of the important ideas that a beginner needs to know, and gets you ready for an intermediate book. Pair with the Deep Fritz computer program. I review that program on its Amazon page.

An excellent book on chess. It's spiral bound and easy to lie flat next to your chess board and set up the examples and lessons. The graphics are very clear and easy to read and the examples are extremely informative. This book deserves much more attention. In time it could be a classic.

About the Author

Alistair MacLean, the son of a Scots minister, was brought up in the Scottish Highlands. In 1941 he joined the Royal Navy. After the war he read English at Glasgow University and became a schoolmaster. The two and a half years he spent aboard a wartime cruiser were to give him the background for HMS Ulysses, his remarkably successful first novel, published in 1955. He is now recognized as one of the outstanding popular writers of the 20th century, the author of 29 worldwide bestsellers, many of which have been filmed. He died in 1987.

Half good and half bad.

The Guns of Navarone is a fun read, fast paced, action packed, vintage MacLean. Force 10 from Navarone is also fun, but rather peculiar. It is MacLean's only sequel, but it isn't a sequel to his original novel but rather to the movie based on his novel! It makes for an odd jump when you go from one to the other. The two additional novels, not by MacLean, are another story. If you are going to hijack another man's characters, the least you can do is keep the characters as the original author created them. Sam Llewellyn doesn't do that. These are not the characters that MacLean created but imposters that have the same names but different personalities. These are annoying and sometimes annoyingly vulgar people who didn't really keep my interest. It is as if someone said, "The original characters aren't edgy enough for today's readers...so let's change them." You know if you don't like the original characters, create your own characters rather than taking someone else's and changing them to suit yourself.

Good action thriller that has stood the test of time!

I read this book many years ago as a teenager, and after having purchased a Kindle I decided to revisit it, as it has been a very long time. As then, I am enjoying this book immensely, it's a great war time action story, with characters larger than life (the way we like them), but able to hold your interest. The characterization is brilliantly done and you would swear that if you ever met these characters on the street you would know them just like that, introductions un-necessary.

It's a classic British versus Germans war time yarn, with a seemingly mismatched band of extremely competent soldiers sent into an occupied Island to silence some big German guns and thus effect the rescue of many trapped allied soldiers.

The story is gripping, forcing to you to always be wanting to turn the page, even when it's well and truely past bedtime! What more can we want from an action book. Highly recommended!

Alistair Maclean does not fail to amaze with this page turner novel. Finished the book in 4 hours reading till wee hours of the morning. For all those who have seen the Gregory Peck movie, the book is much better.

Not happy about the book because it is just a platform for Mr. Shealy's
own inventions and a marketing tool for selling his own products. The book is
not for those who are serious about learning medical intuition. I am disappointed.

I thought this would be a book that would help me do my own medical "intuiting". I have great respect for Norm Shealy and his work, but this was more a history of how he got to where he is, who are the best medical intuitives, and a good reference of books on the subject. Just not what I wanted and expected.

Very interesting reading that could have been much improved by a thorough index. When I couldn't go back to a page [via index] I started to lose interest. Too bad. A little frustrating for a lay person with a Soul. I'd buy another copy just for the index.

Great for nurses as well as all medical professionals!

As an RN, I found this book to be a valuable tool essential for learning about cosmetic injectables! It is very detailed with pertinent information about injection technique/methods, precautions, pearls of injection, as well as anatomical considerations to name a few. The information is very clear for a novice injector as well as for the advanced injector. What also makes it a great reference is the video segment that goes along with each chapter in addition to the detailed illustrations. The video segments makes it especially helpful for visual learners. I find it to be a great investment for learning about the subject matter!

Excellent book

For all physicians, including plastic surgeons/facial plastic surgeons and dermatologists who perform injections with fillers and neuromodulators this book offers concise, easy to access, accurate, useful print and video content for basic and advanced injection techniques. For beginner injectors- or advanced injectors who may desire a refresher on a less frequently used technique, I highly recommend this book.

Extremely disappointing !

The textbook was very informative . The videos were a huge disappointment . The providers hands blocked the view at times and she rarely explained what she was doing.
I purchased the book mainly for the videos.
