Great Resource!

This book has become one of my favorites. I liked it from the beginning but after having it in our clinic for a few months, it has really shown it's value. We have most of the top veterinary anesthesia books, which are also great, but this one stands out. It's easy to read, understand and it's not too dense; it just gives you the exact amount of information you need to apply it to your patient. Our clinic has a lot of technicians with a large range of anesthesia skill/comfort levels from basic to advanced and this book works for everyone. There's been countless times where we have a surprise surgery on a patient with comorbidities. Technicians who may have never dealt with these diseases before can whip this book out, do some quick reading and pick an anesthetic protocol that is safest for their patient.

Fundamental flaw in the text of the kindle version

On (my) page 353 (of 7361) under the sub-heading 'So whats the answer? Visual education?' the text refers to "eel"animation. This is a huge mistake as the text should read "cell" animation. This mistake is repeated on several of the following pages. PLEASE FIX THIS!!

A valuable book for animation scholars and researchers

Yes, few pictures. This is not an animation "how-to" or a coffee table book. Instead, this is an extremely valuable book for those interested in animation theory. I would recommend this text more to academics and scholars interested in animation as a form, than those wanting to learn HOW to animate. Although, I do believe it is extremely important understand the theory behind what we do and the history of how others have done it, I would hate for someone to order this book expecting something more tutorial and technical. Wells examines animation as a popular, yet neglected art form and compares the medium to cinematic models and traces the evolution of animation. The text is part history and part theory. He uses examples from multiple animators and studios to support his arguments. The work covers everything from technique to issues in representation. I do not agree with everything he writes in this book, and at times I grow skeptical/confused about his self-invented terminology, but he draws interesting insights to animation and relates them to actual animated texts. I highly recommend this to anyone who is researching animation as an art form or is simply interested in animation history and theory.

Classic Childrens BOOK that adults love~ wonderful tale~FANTASTIC artwork~

That Donkey by Georgiana 1954 Whiteman Tale a Tale book~ small book with a Donkey on the cover~ Story is about a donkey who pulls a little cart~ Donkey hates the COLD his ears freeze and he is very depressed when the cold weather is there, holds his little head down~ a little blond girl arrives and she gets to ride in the darling little cart pulled by the donkey~ the little girl feels sorry for the cold eared donkey and "knits" him some bright red ear covers so he is now warm~ the artwork is darling~ but now the donkey is "made" fun of because he is now "different" (RED covers on his ears) and he is back to holding his head down in embaressment~ (good moral tale on how being diffent affects us all) so the girl cleverly knits BROWN ear covers and the donky holds his head up because NOT only is he warm~ NO one can see the ear covers~ they are the same color he is~ the last page shows a little girl in the cart being pulled by a happy trotting donkey~ simple tale but one that is great. one of the harder to find books around but every one over 40 had a copy of when they were little~ worth the price as a gift for that special Grandchild~ when I was little I had it and lost it for years and thanks to amazon I found this clever little so many years later and I am around 50.
I would give it a solid 10 out of 10 for story and 10 +++ for colorful artwork~ one of the best of Whitemans early Tell-A-Tale Collection~

More than met my Expectations -

I had been searching for this book for years, but under the wrong title. When my son was a little boy this was the story he wanted read over and over again. Now a 40 year old man, he still talks of "the donkey who had cold ears" (that's the title I kept searching for). When I finally just entered "donkey" and began scanning the books listed, as soon as I saw the picture of the cover I knew I had found it. Cornerstone Books rated it as "good", and I took a chance. I was more than pleased with what I would classify as between "very good" and "excellent". Shipment was received within a matter of a few days and was then wrapped in a large red gift box, tied with a fancy ribbon, and in my son's hands within the week. Pictures I have of his face when he opened the box, tell it all. Thank you Cornerstone Books for a wonderful shopping experience!

Another Winner!

On the last page there's a quote from Thomas A. Edison that sums up the whole message of this book, "If we were to do all we are capable of doing we would literally astonish ourselves." It is with that spirit that Dr. Peale presents more evidence that one's thoughts determine one's destiny. A master at teaching people to apply Christian faith in everyday life, Dr. Peale has made another strong case for faith-based living.
In the preface he writes, "think positively, act positively, image positively, pray positively, and believe positively, and powerful results will be yours."
The first chapter describes the excitement of the process of adventurous, positive achievement. The fact that it is an ongoing process means the excitement need never end. Success feeds success.
He lists four factors which make up the process of success: 1)goal setting 2) positive thinking 3) visualizing and 4)believing.
He continues to emphasize that God is the essence of one's success, that one cannot achieve without Him.
Dr. Peale has a gift for putting powerful truths in memorable phrases, such as, "Belief power gets powerful results."
In the third chapter he talks about problem solving and reminds us that "every problem contains the seeds of its own solution."
Guidance from God, like other gifts from Him, is received by faith. He says believe that and act accordingly.
Like attracts like. He advocates applying that principle to one's thoughts. Positive thoughts attract similar thoughts.

Get a Positive Attitude and Positive Results in your life

Norman Vincent Peale is well known for his famous book, The Power of Positive Thinking which has sold in the millions. This is one of his lesser known but extremely useful, helpful books because it gives hundreds of examples of how people changed their thinking and attitudes to get positive results in their lives. Some of the suggestions seem simple or corny but guess what? THEY WORK! I can vouch for that because I have tried many of them, including writing out goals on a card and carrying the the cards in my purse to reinforce my goals. More importantly, these reminders keep me on track daily. He calls this suggestion by the corny title of "the shirt pocket technique" meaning he carried his goals around on cards in his shirt pocket.
The other very helpful part of this book is that it contains checklists in most chapters, which are like "to do" lists. They are really summaries of the points he has made in that chapter and a reminder of what you can actually do to further your goals.
I keep a copy of this book around and read a page or 2 or 3 now and again to remind me how to stay positive and get to where I want to go. I highly recommend this book. For cynics, please consider his general theme, which might be summed up as "you get what you think".

Again, Dr. Peale outdoes himself in this incredibly motivating and inspiring book. Everything you need to manifest success in your life is contained within this book along with real life examples of the miracles of positive thinking and belief in ones self and creator.
