Prof. Dr. Arjan J. van Weele holds the NEVI-Chair in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management at Eindhoven University of Technology, Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences (IE&IS). He has extensive experience in teaching, research and consultancy and has written numerous articles and books in the areas of strategic management, business logistics and purchasing and supply chain management. In 2003 he received the Hans Ovelg�nne Award from the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) for his outstanding academic contribution in the area of purchasing and supply management.

This text is a scholarly presentation of purchasing and supply chain management for the 21st century. "Arjan van Weele holds the (parttime) NEVI-Chair of Purchasing and Supply Management, at Eindhoven University of Technology, Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences (IE&IS), The Netherlands." The material is thorough, excellent, and slow going for a sophomore course in logistics.

This is a very well written book covering a wide variety of topics yet with enough detail to be very helpful. I highly recommend it for anyone needing information about the basics of purchasing. It has been very helpful to me. I was looking for a good single source on the topic of purchasing and this is certainly it.
