It is a waste of space
By Daniel R. Glenn
This is mainly a review of the 916 book. It is a waste of space. 5 authors, no editor and 1000 pages of cut and pasted Cisco Doc pages does not make an adequate study material. The other book by Sybex is the opposite, too short to have enough material to get you past the exam. But at least it is more relevant to what you will find on the test. This Cisco Press book was extremely aggravating to read.
The 911 book, I didn't read in detail. But if you already have a R/S CCNA, there isn't going to be much in it worth reading except about port aggregation and STP. Nexus handles these differently. But you can at least Lab it up with Cisco VIRL and learn that. The 916 topics are much more difficult to get hands on with unless you already have a job doing this stuff. DC design concepts are different too, but not terribly difficult to grasp if you are already familiar with the 3 tier design.

New books for the current data center test
By John Matlock
This library consists of two books from Cisco press that cover the wide range of Cisco products commonly found in data centers. If you’ve gotten far enough into the certification process to be reading this, you probably already know the value of certifications. The two books included in this package cover the two logical areas in which the data center is broken down.
The Cisco DCICT test covers what might be called the central processing part of the data center including data storage, servers, etc.. It also covers the Cisco ACE Load Balancers which are discontinued but still found being used in a lot of data centers so are still part of the test.
The Cisco DCICN test is oriented to the communications aspect of the data center. This includes LANs, fiber optics, cabling, switches, etc.
The Cisco books use a format where at the beginning of each chapter they included a fairly short test so you can see if you already know the material to be covered which might tell you that you can skip this chapter. Or perhaps it will just point out that you should work more diligently on some chapters than others.
Cisco books have become a standard in regard to their products and are widely used across the industry. They cover the material and in a fairly simple yet useful way. The two books in this set are both copyright 2015.

Excellent book for data center study!
By Shawn
This is an excellent book for the data center certification. I also bought the Todd Lamelle version and that one is crap. its full of mistakes and does not have anywhere near the depth this book has.
